SOVA is looking for musicians to play on a monthly schedule

We’re showing the Euro 2008 games in the back room every day.

Wanna have a meeting or party here ?

SOVA is the perfect place to gather with family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors. If you have a special occasion, meeting, event, social group or club, feel free to inquire about reserving space here. Since we don’t currently offer food, other than the morning pastries and such, you are more than welcome to bring your own food  in the way of platters, cakes, and other treats and goodies.

Calling all local painters and photographers

SOVA Espresso and Wine has space available to show and sell your art. We are currently previewing about 30 pieces of art for the Two Rivers Charter School auction on April 12th. Once that exhibit comes down on the 11th, we have a photographer who will be displaying her work down stairs, but no one lined up for upstairs. Our preference is for paintings of some sort, but we’re open for other ideas as well. Please contact us by calling our shop at 202-397-3080 or e-mail us at info@sovadc.com

The Correct Hours of Operation

I’m sorry for any confusion our website has caused when it comes to our operating hours. I know that it says we’re open from 5am - 7pm. I’ve asked to have that corrected by the website developer. In the meantime, here are our correct hours. Mon.  -  Fri.   6:30am  -  9:00pm,  Sat.  7am  -  9pm,  Sun.  8am  -  7pm.  These of course are all pre-alcohol hours. We anticipate staying open until midnight Mondays - Thursdays, 2am Friday & Saturday, and 11pm Sundays.

We are open on New Years Day

We’ll be opening at 9am that day, and closing at our normal 9pm time. We will also be showing college bowl games on the TV in the back room, so we’ll have the volume up in that room. I hesitate to post a TV schedule because there are a number of games on that day, and there’s going to be  a lot of overlapping games. What I can say is we will be showing the entire UVA game, if only because it’s a local team.

How about being a Barista for a day ?

Ever thought it would be cool to pull your friends and family that great shot of espresso on a real deal Italian beauty of a machine, La Marzocco. Or, have you ever wanted to do Latte Art. Well, so do we :-) As soon as we can think of a way to do this without committing any labor law infractions or getting sued by someone who spills brewed coffee all over themselves, we’ll try to make this happen.  If your interested, please let us know. We’ll develop some sort of list and get back to you. Now we’re looking for people who are serious about serving great coffee. This isn’t a just cuz you signed up we have to give you your day type of thing. We’ll probably do it where the eligible person(s) come(s) in for a 1 to 1 1/2 hour training session to prove themselves a bit, and then we can put you on a shift with other more experienced Baristas either the same day, or another day to be determined based on your availability and our schedule.

OMG, did you say desserts

Yes yes it’s true, we just started serving the incredible French pastry desserts of Patisserie Poupon on Saturday the 8th, and they were a huge hit from the moment we started taking them out the delivery box. No really, just out the box. Before we could even put everything on the serving trays we sold 4 desserts in less than 3 minutes. Now some of you may be familiar with Patisserie Poupon’s retail location on Wisconsin Avenue in Upper Georgetown. It’s been a hot spot for years. Well, now you don’t have to go so far for the delicious treats.

WE’RE OPEN! ! !

Well folks, we opened the doors of SOVA on Monday, November 12th to the many anxious neighbors and interested parties who have waited for months and months for a good cup of coffee on the eastern end of H St, NE. While business has been sporadic for the first few weeks, especially on weekday mornings and afternoons,  as people learn that we’re here and open, we’ve had a fun time getting to know our neighbors. We really look forward to making SOVA the neighborhood gathering place, and tried as much as possible to create a comfortable place to come and read the paper, take advantage of our free Wi-Fi, watch a game on our flat screen in the back room, or just relax with a good cup of Joe or loose leaf tea.
